SAFE 6.0 Scrum Master Teaching Practice Test and Skills Benchmark

This teaching practice test teaches while simultaneously checking the knowledge of students who want to take and pass the SAFe© Scrum Master 6.0 Certification Exam. This is a learning aid useful to students who want to improve their success rate in passing the Certification Exam.

While this teaching practice test can be used alongside the SAFe©  SM Practice Exam provided in the SAFe© Studio Learning Plan, it is substantially different in form, style, intention and design. It contains significantly more questions. The questions are constructed to teach while probing understanding.

The design is deliberate in order to reinforce the principles, practices and techniques of fulfilling the role of a SAFe© Scrum Master in the 6.0 Scaled Agile Framework.

In addition to students, SAFe© Agile Coaches, SAFe© Practice Consultants (SPC), instructors and others can use this aid for coaching, mentoring, teaching and benchmarking.

This teaching practice test was developed by Tony Timbol, SPC, an experienced coach, mentor and instructor based on specific instructional design principles and years of experience in teaching classes in person and remote.

How to get the most out of this Teaching Practice Test

Everyone learns differently and testing dynamics can be a challenge for some. Below are best practice exam tips on preparing for the SAFe© Scrum Master 6.0 Certification Exam with the Teaching Practice Test.

1. Read the SAFe© SM 6.0 Examination guide provided in your SAFe© Studio Learning Plan. This is invaluable in setting your expectations about the certification exam.
2. Prepare your own test prep plan. It can be a simple list or more comprehensive. Use your judgement as you know yourself best.
3. Plan to spend 8 to 20 hours in preparation and study BEFORE you take the FINAL certification exam. The time varies for each person. This time includes reviewing your in-class notes, reading all the recommended articles, reviewing the in-class videos, taking this Teaching Practice Test and taking the SAFe© Practice Exam in your Learning Plan.
4. If it works for you, team up with a practice buddy or a test study group. For some this can be very useful in preparing.
5. There are several ways you can use the Teaching Practice Test, which is sequentially organized by Lesson number and includes an answer key appendix. These ways include:
   1. Use the Test in Real-time: If you have NOT taken the SAFe©e SM course yet, use this Teaching Practice Test DURING the class. As your instructor is going through the material and your mind is illumined, you should be able to answer the questions. This method reinforces your learning.
   2. Simulated Exam (Closed Book): Take the whole Teaching Practice Test in one sitting at any time as a test without the answer key. This simulates an exam scenario. Score yourself afterwards. Repeat this as often as you wish.
   3. Simulated Exam (Open Book): Take the whole Teaching Practice Test in one sitting at any time as a test with the answer key. This is akin to assisted studying without the simulated pressure of a test. Repeat this as needed.
   4. Lesson Segmented Exam (Closed or Open Book): Take each section of the Teaching Practice Test after you have reviewed a particular lesson. For example, you have reviewed Lesson 2 of the SAFe© SM course, watched all the videos and read all the recommended articles. At this point take the Lesson 2 questions of the Teaching Practice Test with or without the answer key based on what works for you best. Repeat as needed.
   5. Pre-Exam Prep and Refresher: Study the Teaching Practice Test, along with the answer key, as another method of learning just prior to the exam.

There are 115 questions organized in five lessons following the outline of the SAFe© SM 6 course. In addition, there is a skills benchmarking scoring table for self-assessment use. A Test Scoring Template is provided along with the Answer Key.
